Wyoming Death Records
Wyoming death records are provided by the Vital Statistics Service for the state. This Office is responsible for filing death certificates and issuing certified copies of the same. Who Can Order WY Death Records
Death records may only be ordered by the following individuals:
- – Immediate family members of the deceased
- – Lawyer representing one or more immediate family members
- – Executor of the deceased’s estate
Information Required to Order a Death Record
When you place an order for a death record, you will need to provide the following information:
- – Full name of deceased
- – Date of death
- – City or county of death
- – Your relationship to the deceased
- – Reason for the request
- – Your mailing address
Along with the information listed above, you will also need to provide a copy of your driver’s license, passport, or State ID card. A notarized signature of the person requesting the death record be accepted instead of one of these forms of ID.
Fee for Wyoming Death Records
The fee charged for a death record is $10.00. If you aren’t sure about the date of death, you can request a five-year search for a fee of $13.00 for each one. The amount paid will be not be returned if no record is located for you.
The fee charged for vital records includes a surcharge which is forwarded to the Wyoming Children’s Trust Fund. The money is used for programs to help prevent child abuse and neglect. Wyoming state law requires that the Vital Records Services collect the surcharge on all orders for certified copies of records, as well as searches for vital records.
The state of Wyoming accepts money orders and personalized checks for vital records orders made payable to “Vital Records Services.”
