Nevada Death Records
Nevada death records are held by the state Department of Health and Human Services. It has records dating from July 1, 1911 to the present. Records dating prior to that date are available from the County Registrar’s Office in the county where the death occurred. If you would like to order a death record, you can visit a website which will provide the requested information for a fee.
Who Can Order Nevada Death Records
Death records are considered confidential and will only be released to qualified applicants. These records can be ordered by a direct family member (by blood or marriage) or the deceased’s legal guardian. A legal representative acting for the deceased’s estate may also gain access to NV death records.
Information Required to Order NV Death Records
The following information must be provided when ordering a death record:
- – Full Name of Deceased
- – Date of Death
- – Deceased’s Mother’s Maiden Name
- – Deceased’s SS Number
- – Place of Death
- – Deceased’s Father’s Name
- – Funeral Home in Charge of Final Arrangements
You will also need to indicate your relationship to the deceased and the reason you are ordering the death record.
ID Required for Ordering Nevada Death Records
All requests for NV death records must be accompanied by valid photo ID. A driver’s license, passport, or state-issued identification card can be used for this purpose.
Fee for Ordering NV Death Records
The fee for each certified copy of a NV death record is $20.00. Payment may be made by check or money order.

Order NV Death Records Online
The state does not accept orders for vital records directly. Instead, it has arranged with an independent company to process payments made by consumers. If you decide to place an order online, you will be charged an additional processing fee in addition to the standard fee to obtain a death record. The processing company accepts all major credit cards (American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa).
Order Nevada Death Records by Phone
Orders for death records can be placed by phone. They are not processed by the state Vital Records Office directly, but payment is handled by the independent payment processing company. All orders placed using this method are subject to an additional processing fee. The information is collected by the payment processing company and forwarded to the Office of Vital Records.
