Arkansas Death Records

Arkansas death records dating from February 1, 1914 to the present can be ordered from the state Department of Public Health Vital Records Office. These documents are also available online from a website which can obtain the requested information from an online database.

Who Can Order Arkansas Death Records

In Arkansas, death records which are less than 50 years old may only be ordered by people who are directly related to the deceased or a representative acting on their behalf. The record may also be released to people who can demonstrate that they have the right to receive this information, as well as academic research groups.

 

Fee to Order Arkansas Death Records

The fee for a first copy of an Arkansas death record is $10.00. Each additional copy of the same record (ordered at the same time) costs $8.00. In a situation where a death record search is conducted and the information cannot be found, the fee is non-refundable.

The state accepts cash, as well as check and money orders payable to “Arkansas Department of Health.” If you are ordering by mail, do not send cash.

Information Required to Order Arkansas Death Records

The following information is needed when ordering an AR death record:

• – Deceased’s full name
• – Date of death
• – City or county where death occurred
• – Name of funeral home which handled final arrangements

You will also need to indicate your relationship to the deceased and why you want to receive a copy of the death record. A copy of your photo ID is also required.
